Dr. Brent Nixon Appointed Director of Clinical Research
Smyrna, GA (December 20, 2007) – Brent Nixon, DPM has been appointed Director of Clinical Research for Village Podiatry Group in Smyrna. He is a certified clinical trial investigator and a practicing podiatric surgeon of more than 30 years.
Dr. Nixon received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine of the Rosalind Franklin University. He completed his surgical residency at Monsignor Clement Kern Hospital for Special Surgery in Warren, Michigan.
Dr. Nixon has served more than 40 years in the United States Army Reserve achieving the rank of Colonel. He served 20 years as an army aviator, attaining Master Army Aviator with over 900 hours of combat flight time. He served as a podiatrist for 20 years with notable assignments that included the USMA at West Point, NY and Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, HI. Dr Nixon has served actively in Vietnam, Desert Storm and the Global War on Terrorism.
Currently, Dr. Nixon is Chief of Podiatry and Residency Director at the Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He held the same position for over 19 years at Veterans Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. Dr. Nixon holds academic appointments at all eight colleges of podiatric medicine and is an adjunct professor in the School of Public Health at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine. He has been actively involved in numerous academic and clinical research projects as a primary investigator.
Village Podiatry Group’s Clinical Research Division is based in Smyrna, GA on the campus of Emory-Adventist Hospital. The first clinical trial will be initiated in January 2008.
